Next Monday and Tuesday evening, NFF will gather with its White River National Forest ski resort partners – Vail Resorts , Copper Mountain , and Arapahoe Basin – several of its nonprofit stewardship partners, Forest Service staff, and others to recognize the success of its Ski Conservation Fund . We plan to meet in the great outdoors at some of our stewardship project sites on the Dillon Ranger District and Eagle-Holy Cross Ranger District to celebrate with great food and drink.

There is, indeed, much to celebrate. Since 2007, the White River National Forest Ski Conservation Fund has invested more than $3 million on the White River National Forest, supported 19 nonprofit organizations, and awarded more than 50 project grants! In total, this investment has engaged more than 12,000 volunteers, who have contributed nearly 130,000 volunteer hours to the forests they love.

Here are a few other great stats:

  • 4,640 miles of trail maintained or restored;
  • 12,880 trees planted;
  • 308 acres of wildlife habitat restored; and
  • 313 miles of stream restored.

What great accomplishments!

I’d like to thank all of our wonderful partners on the White River National Forest for making this work possible as well as the many resort guests that have contributed to the fund over the last several years!
