The Matching Awards Program invested $927,000 in on-the-ground projects. Conservation work will take place on several National Forests across the country supporting themes of Outdoor Experiences and Forest Health. These projects provide a lasting impact to the land, water, and wildlife of the National Forest System.

Arizona Trail Restoration Project - Mazatzal Wilderness
To restore the condition of the Arizona National Scenic Trail through the Mazatzal Wilderness with the help of volunteers and youth conservation corps members conducting 50 miles of brushing along the trail corridor.

Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex Invasive Weed Suppression
To work in coordination with the U.S.F.S. to continue invasive weed suppression at 4 locations on the Flathead National Forest. Outcomes include 1280 hours of habitat restoration work including: weed mapping, pulling, and chemical treatment.

Wrangle Camp Meadow Restoration
To improve conditions and restore sensitive meadow habitat by building a fence and erecting interpretive signage on lands within the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest that have been damaged by off-road vehicles.

Roosevelt National Forest Trail Restoration
To complete restoration work on North Fork trail, Lion and Young Gulch trails these USFS trails will be restored for the general public to hike and ride safely. These trails are currently either totally or partially closed to the public.

Stronger Together: Building Teamwork to Benefit Salmon Valley Trails
To increase synergy between trail users, youth corps, and agency partners, working to improve trails and relationships. This effort will leverage resources and benefit outdoor experiences on the Salmon-Challis.

Metamorphosis
To employ 10 at-risk youth to work on the Baldwin District, Manistee National Forest. Youth will work for up to 10 weeks improving habitat for the federally endangered Karner blue butterfly and pollinators and construct trail.

Upper White River Forest Health Restoration Project
To improve forest health by restoring riparian buffers, controlling high-priority non-native invasive plant infestations, and engaging community volunteers in hands-on project implementation and lessons-learned activities.
