Until August 2019, Rob Leary was the Chief Executive Officer of The Olayan Group, a private, multinational enterprise that is both an international investor and a diversified commercial and industrial business. Prior to May 2017, Rob was the CEO of Nuveen, a $900 billion global asset manager of equities, fixed income, real estate, and private equity. Rob is a member of the Board of Directors of Intact Financial Corporation, the leading property and casualty insurance company in Canada.
Rob is also an independent board director of Citizens Financial Group, which is the 13th largest retail bank in the US and delivers a broad range of financial services to over 5 million individuals, companies, not-for-profits, and institutions. Rob is also a founding member of The Council, a consulting firm that provides confidential advice and counsel to senior executives. He also serves as a consultant or advisory board member to a number of firms.
Rob began his career as a lawyer for White & Case in New York and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He then moved into the financial services arena with JP Morgan & Co in New York. He helped build AIG Financial Products' investment business and later was CEO of ING Investment Management Americas and ING Insurance US (now Voya). He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science at Union College and his law degree from Fordham University School of Law. He has also served on the boards of numerous not for profit boards focusing on education, the environment, and humanitarian aid.
Rob is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, cycling, kayaking, skiing, and boating.
