BIO

Tom joined the NFF in May 2023 as the Senior Advisor for Wildfire Resilience. He directs an interdisciplinary team in developing replicable, scalable, and sustainable models to deliver cross-jurisdictional, landscape-scale fire risk reduction efforts. A serial collaborator across his 20+-year career, Tom works closely with federal and state agencies, universities, and national, regional, and local NGOs. Prior to joining the NFF, Tom spent eight years with the American Forest Foundation as Western Director building a $20M+ region-wide program from the ground up. He has served as senior policy advisor on climate adaptation with the Nature Conservancy and advisor in the Immediate Office of the Secretary, Department of the Interior, implementing President Obama’s America’s Great Outdoors initiative.

Before his stint in DC, Tom led a national wildfire program as well as forest restoration efforts in the central Rockies for the Wilderness Society. Tom holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado and a master’s degree in non-profit management with an emphasis in environmental policy and law from Regis University.
