Mackenzie joined the NFF in March 2023 as a part of the growing Pacific Northwest and Alaska team. In her role as the Chugach Stewardship Coordinator, she works with the U.S. Forest Service and various community partners to identify and develop recreation and restoration projects on the Chugach National Forest. Mackenzie previously worked as the Executive Director of Alaska Huts Association, where she managed, developed, and executed plans for establishing hut facilities and outdoor education programs in Southcentral Alaska. As a prior small business owner and charter boat captain, Mackenzie has about 15 years of experience working in Alaska’s outdoor recreation industry in the Chugach National Forest. Mackenzie has a B.S. in Anthropology from Macalester College. Mackenzie was born and raised in Seward, Alaska and is happiest in her backyard mountains –in the Kenai, Chugach Front Range, or Talkeetna Mountains - on various types of skis, a mountain bike, or on her own two feet. Mackenzie also loves to cook, garden, and spend time on the waters of Resurrection Bay or Prince William Sound.
