"National Forests are important to me because they act as protected corridors for flora and fauna and provide space for people to connect to the land in many ways including my favorite - fly fishing, camping and hiking."

In this role, she works to develop and implement wetland and watershed health projects and programs in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, other federal and state agencies, conservation partners, and local communities to help restore the headwaters of the Colorado River Basin.

Prior to joining the NFF, Katie was the Natural Resources Manager with an NGO in the St. Croix River watershed spanning parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin. There she gained experience with multi-stakeholder partnerships, watershed restoration & monitoring projects and community engagement. Katie looks forward to bringing 6 years of watershed experience with her to the Southwest Team.

Katie received her B.S. in Biology and Field Biology from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls and holds a master Watershed Specialist certification from the University of Minnesota. When she’s not at work she enjoys hiking and camping with her dogs, fly-fishing a cold-water stream, or catching a baseball game with her family. Katie is excited to be a part of the NFF team working to protect and restore our treasured public lands and aquatic resources.
