"National Forests are important to me because they provide an opportunity for people to connect with nature, and each contain a unique ecological value. They will always be my favorite public land for backpacking, camping, and reconnecting!"

BIO

Heidi joined the NFF in June 2023 as a Program Coordinator for the Tahoe National Forest in the Yuba River Ranger District. Having grown up in California, Heidi is excited to increase the capacity for creating resilient forests and communities in this landscape.

Prior to joining the NFF, Heidi worked in habitat restoration and noxious weed control in the Pacific Northwest. Her interest in large-scale disturbance and ecosystem health led to her work on river systems and upland forests in a diverse range of ecosystems.

Heidi graduated with her Master of Science in Environmental Science and Policy from Northern Arizona University, focusing on vegetation recovery following high-severity fire. During this time, she completed the NFF Conservation Connect Fellowship focusing on community and forest resiliency through Wood for Life projects in the southwest. Heidi also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Mexico.

She is excited to apply her knowledge of fire adapted forests, restoration, and forest health to the Sierra Nevada. In her free time, you can find Heidi in the mountains hiking, backpacking, and identifying wildflowers.
