"National Forests are important to me because they are the backbone of our lives here in Colorado - they support our mountain town economies, provide us with clean air and water, sustain wildlife populations, and give us a place to enjoy nature."
BIO
Emily Kasyon (she/her) joined the NFF as the White River National Forest Program Coordinator in May 2023. Emily is focused on collaborative projects that help restore and conserve Colorado’s forests while improving access and engagement for all. Emily holds a Master of Natural Resource Stewardship with a concentration in Ecological Restoration and a B.S. in Environmental Engineering, both from Colorado State University.
Prior to NFF, Emily worked for the Southwest Conservation Corps in Durango, CO as their Watershed Programs Manager, where she focused on landscape-scale restoration initiatives in the Colorado River basin. Her experience includes working across boundaries with stakeholder groups, running programming to engage young people in conservation, and managing complex on-the-ground restoration projects.
In her free time, Emily can be found enjoying our public lands with her husband and two dogs. She loves adventuring outside and can be found skiing, canyoneering, and mountain biking on the weekends. Emily is also a silversmith and lapidary artist and often makes jewelry from rocks she’s found on the trail.
