"Our National Forests are vital public assets that support biodiversity, deliver important ecosystem services, and provide endless recreation opportunities. My team and I are working collaboratively with the U.S. Forest Service and local NGOs to protect and enhance these important lands across the Tahoe Area."

Dan joined the National Forest Foundation in November of 2021 as a California Program Coordinator for the Tahoe Area. In September of 2022, he was promoted to his current role as California Program Manager for the Tahoe Area. Dan and his team manage a range of forest health, wildlife, and recreation projects projects across the Tahoe National Forest and Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit.

Dan has a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Davis, and a background in forestry and environmental conservation. Prior to joining the NFF team, he worked as a Forestry Technician at FRST Corp, where he collected data on giant sequoias killed in wildfire events to help inform fire resilient management practices for the giant sequoia groves.

Before that, Dan spent half a decade advocating for the protection of wild areas across Nevada at Friends of Nevada Wilderness. During his time at Friends, he helped the group with several key victories including the designation of Gold Butte National Monument, Massacre Rim Dark Sky Sanctuary, and the successful defense of the Desert National Wildlife Refuge against military expansion (#dontbombthebighorn).

Dan was raised in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains and is now working to strengthen the very forest he grew up in. He currently lives in Truckee, CA and when not at work, he spends his time exploring snow-covered mountains, mountain biking local trails, and running rivers across the West. When he can’t get outside you’ll probably find him eating homemade tacos, brewing kombucha, or baking sourdough apple pie.
