Carolyn Auwaerter (they/them) joined the NFF as the Tongass Stewardship Coordinator in April 2023 to work with the U.S. Forest Service and community partners to identify and develop recreation and restoration projects on the Tongass, including the Alaska Cabins Project. They have spent more than fifteen years managing grassroots campaigns, building people power, and fundraising for causes. Most recently, they worked as the Engagement Manager at Trail Mix, Inc., Juneau's trail maintenance organization. Carolyn has a B.A. in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania. They live and work on Áak’w Ḵwáan lands (Juneau, Alaska). Carolyn likes hiking, mountain biking, skiing, foraging, and cooking.
