Crag Crest National Recreation Trail Reconstruction, Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests, Colorado

December 8, 2024

The U.S. Forest Service and National Forest Foundation (NFF) are working together to implement projects associated with the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA). Crag Crest National Recreation Trail is located on the Grand Mesa and winds through a variety of scenery from craggy lake views to deep forested sections and wildflower meadows. The Crag Crest Trail Reconstruction Project prioritizes the protection of natural resources, mitigation of safety hazards, and keeping trail users on the trail. It focuses on constructing new and improving existing retaining walls and drainage structures such as water bars and turnpikes.
