This notice describes the National Forest Foundation's privacy policy as it relates to donors and visitors to the following websites: www.nationalforests.org, www.natlforests.org, www.becomeafriend.org, www.carboncapitalfund.org, www.nationalforestfoundation.org, www.friendsoftheforest.org. The National Forest Foundation (NFF) is the sole owner and operator of these websites. Our intention is to provide an informative tool for those interested in conservation and a mechanism for participation. We recognize that donors and visitors to the website may be concerned about how we use the information they provide us. The NFF is committed to honoring a visitor's privacy preferences. Please remember that by visiting the website, you are accepting the policies described in this document. Periodically, we may revise these policies, and list the most recent revision date at the bottom of the page.

This policy is for the website visitors and donors to determine consumer choice and informed consent, by describing what information we collect, how we protect and use information, and other pertinent privacy information.

Consumer Choice

We believe our website visitors and donors should be empowered to determine:

• When and under what conditions to provide personal information that could identify, contact, or locate an individual or group of individuals.
• Who can and cannot share their personal information.
• When to remain anonymous.

If personal information is collected, we believe a visitor to the website or a donor has the right to:

Personal Information

• We are committed to protecting your personal information.
• We may request your name, email address, address, phone number, and other similar information.
• This information is collected when you request additional information about the NFF or our programs, submit a donation online, subscribe to tree-mail™, etc.
• We only use third party service providers that are PCI compliant with strong encryption and security practices to store information collected through online forms. NFF staff can only view your contact information. We never allow volunteers to access your information.
• NFF employs a complex set of configurations and standards designed to protect all data on the NFF network. This includes but is not limited to:
  • A team of qualified technicians and engineers who manage the network through a secure firewall
  • Specialized software with encryption and user authentication
  • Cyber security protection including virus detection and spam filters
  • Annual network assessment conducted by cyber security experts Internal security policies and user requirements that are signed and maintained as a condition of employment for all NFF staff

Non-personal Information

The NFF gathers non-personal information using cookies. We use Google Analytics and Google AdWords to collect website use anonymously and report website trends, without identifying individual users. This information is used by the NFF to monitor the website's traffic and to better manage our site by providing history of the different parts of the website that have been visited. It also helps users and online donors by recognizing them when they come back to the website. Payment Information

The NFF does not maintain or store payment information internally. All payment information (checks, debit cards, credit cards) is stored with a third party service provider that meets PCI compliance standards. Only database administration staff have access to change or remove payment information. NFF staff do not have access to payment information unless a donor shares it with a staff member for completing a transaction; we never internally store payment information from those transactions.

If you are concerned about giving out your personal or payment details online, you can still contribute to the NFF by calling us or mailing a check to our address above.

Our Commitment to Our Donors

We will not sell, share, or trade our donors’ names or personal information with any other entity, nor send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations. This policy applies to all information received both online and offline, on any platform (websites and mobile applications), as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications. We only share donor information with third party service providers as necessary to process donations and to communicate with our donors. We review all our third party service providers internally to ensure they meet appropriate compliance standards and strongly protect our donors’ data.

Use of Information

We use the information you provide us to respond to the inquiry or purpose that you have requested.
