A Toolbox of Resources

During this session, attendees received updates from the U.S. Forest Service on the Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program (CFLRP), learned about an approach for building and maintaining a solid foundation for collaborative efforts using the 4-Ps (Purpose, People, Process, and Products), heard from speakers about how CFLRP changed their collaborative efforts, and were able to ask questions and join in a discussion about the process of building and maintaining a solid foundation for collaboration. Speakers included Lindsay Buchanan, U.S. Forest Service Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program Coordinator; Steve Daniels, Utah State University Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Anthropology Professor (ret.); Nils Christoffersen, Wallowa Resources Executive Director; Liz Johnson-Gebhardt, Priest Community Forest Connections Executive Director; and Nick Larson, U.S. Forest Service, National Forests of North Carolina, Grandfather District Ranger. Moderated by Ben Irey, National Forest Foundation Conservation Connect Program Manager.

During this session, speakers and attendees sought to build understanding about the spectrum of complementary actions, based on available science, to protect the built environment and community values from wildfire, improve the ecological resilience of our landscapes, and improve the safety and effectiveness of wildfire management; discuss the concepts of landscape resilience, the wildland urban interface and the home ignition zone, fire management options, and the roles they play in reducing fire risk; address why fire needs to be restored to the landscape; consider the values that could be lost and how they relate to fire; and discuss how to increase the options for fire managers to implement integrated active management. Speakers include Dr. Mark Finney, U.S. Forest Service Fire Lab; Dr. Jack Cohen, U.S. Forest Service Fire Lab (ret.); Bea Day, U.S. Forest Service Portland NIMO Incident Commander. This session was moderated by Dr. Colin Hardy, U.S. Forest Service Missoula Fire Sciences Lab (ret.).

Objectives During this peer learning session attendees will: • Gain an understanding of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Justice (DEIA&J) in partnerships and why DEIA&J is a priority for the Forest Service; • Hear examples of partnerships embodying DEIA&J principles; and • Have an opportunity to ask questions of the panelists Suggested Audience Forest Service employees and partners wanting to learn more about and engage in partnerships for DEIA&J.

During this peer learning session, speakers shared why there was a need for a Region-wide aquatic restoration Environmental Analysis (EA), discussed the process of developing the EA, shared case studies of early applications of the EA, and shared some related lessons learned. Speakers included Patrick Shannon, National Forest Foundation Pacific Northwest Program Director; James Capurso, Pacific Northwest Region Fisheries Biologist; Nate Dachtler, Deschutes National Forest Bend/Fort Rock/Cresent Ranger District Fisheries Biologist; and Lizeth Ochoa, Rogue River - Siskiyou National Forest Gold Beach and Powers Ranger Districts Soil Scientist and Hydrologist. Moderated by the National Forest Foundation's Ben Irey.

During this web meeting speakers shared updates related to the Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program (CFLRP) and took stock of needs and opportunities in the CFLRP community.
