In Earth Month 2023, the NFF reached its fundraising target for the 50 Million For Our Forests campaign. With funds secured, the NFF will carry out campaign tree planting through 2025, strengthening and expanding our reforestation commitment on National Forests for the future.
In 2018, the National Forest Foundation began a highly ambitious goal to plant 50 million trees across National Forests by 2025. With all of the news on reforestation these days, 50 million trees may not seem like a lot. However, a campaign to plant 50 million trees solely on public National Forest lands had never been attempted.
In Earth Month 2023, we reached a critical point in the campaign – we secured our fundraising goal for 50 Million For Our Forests! This was only possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our passionate donors, corporate partners, and Sapling members.
To celebrate and express our sincerest gratitude, we created a video to share with our supporters. In it, you will hear from NFF President and CEO Mary Mitsos, U.S. Forest Service Chief Randy Moore, and NFF Reforestation Director Mindy Crowell.
A few of our corporate partners and Sapling members also shared their feelings on why tree planting is important to them and their work.
Our reforestation work is not over, it is just beginning. While we finish planting trees for this campaign over the next couple of years, we are working hard to scale up our reforestation efforts – going from need to tree – on National Forest lands. Stay tuned for more to come!
As the trees grow and thrive, so will National Forests, the centerpiece of America’s public lands. We are grateful to all of our supporters for their part in reforesting them and helping us reach our fundraising goal.
Now, let’s get our hands dirty and plant more trees!
