As a Certified B Corporation, we have pledged to constantly evaluate and improve every aspect of our business to ensure that our employees, community and the environment are our primary focus. Veterinary Specialty Center (VSC) has already instituted several measures to better our environment by offsetting our carbon footprint, minimizing our food waste, encouraging recycling, utilizing water runoff, landscaping with indigenous plants, enacting bee preservation initiatives and much, much more!

This year we are proud to be partnering with the National Forest Foundation (NFF) as a sponsor of the 10K Tree Challenge. As a result of this partnership, 10,000 trees will be planted this year in conjunction with the NFF’s effort to plant 50 million trees across our national forests by 2023. This year alone, 2.6 million new trees have taken root in our national forests as part of this program.

We firmly believe at VSC that we must play an active role in improving our environment for now and the future. We’ve had an active recycling and composting program at VSC and are continually working to improve our carbon footprint. Part of that is continuing to support and rebuild our national forests to protect habitats and endangered species.

There are so many things out of our control that have had a large negative impact on the health of our national forests. Through this program, we feel we can be more active participants in rebuilding the forests to rejuvenate watersheds, reducing erosion and filtering drinking water. It also has a huge impact on buffering the effects of global climate change thanks to the additional carbon dioxide being released.

We’re excited to be a part of the 10K Tree Challenge and to be working to help sustain our many national forests. It’s a small step that we can take for our future.
