What makes America’s outdoor heritage so strong is our incredible public lands. National Forests cover 193 million acres across 44 states, and these lands are vital to our wildlife, streams, and local communities. National forests and Grasslands provide unparalleled opportunities and access to sportsmen and women to do what they love – hunt, fish, and enjoy the great outdoors.

Thanks to generous customers of Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s through the Outdoor Fund, we’re planting trees across our National Forests. In 2020 alone, nearly 150,000 trees were planted on the Boise and Kisatchie National Forests.

Together, we are restoring native forests to promote watershed health, wildlife habitat, and to ensure our forests remain as forests.

Hundreds of thousands of native trees will be planted thanks to outstanding support from the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund. The partnership will help continue a legacy of healthy and abundant public lands, now and for future generations.

Not only are National Forests there for us, but they also are an essential resource for wildlife. Our National Forests provide 12 million acres of pristine waterfowl habitat and 28 million acres of wild turkey habitat. They also account for 80 percent of the country’s elk, mountain goat, and bighorn sheep habitat in the lower 48 states.

These public lands are so important – and they belong to all of us. We all have a responsibility as stewards to ensure future generations have the same opportunity and access to these unique places.
