Planet Home Lending has championed the National Forest Foundation’s 50 Million For Our Forest campaign since 2019. In 2021, the company’s Planet with a Purpose program is continuing its tree planting leadership by planting 100,000 trees on National Forests.

At Planet Home Lending, LLC, a full-service mortgage company that offers home loans and refinancing across the country, we are proud to be in our third year of partnering with the National Forest Foundation and its 50 Million For Our Forests reforestation campaign. The partnership comes through our Planet with a Purpose charitable giving program, which supports our planet, our people, and prosperity. In 2021, Planet with a Purpose’s NFF partnership is funding wildfire recovery and habitat restoration in National Forests in Oregon, California, and Georgia.

In Oregon, we are helping Willamette National Forest recover after severe wildfires in 2020. This project will provide critical watershed restoration, important for downstream communities and fish habitat. In California, wildfire recovery is also the primary objective of our project in Sierra National Forest. The 2020 Creek Fire burned for almost three months, leaving a scorched landscape, and the 2021 plantings will promote forest restoration and soil stabilization. In Georgia, we are planting longleaf and shortleaf pine on Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests to revive native habitat with these long-lived, fire-tolerant species.

“The Planet family of companies has been proud to make a significant environmental investment with the NFF through our Planet with a Purpose platform,” said Michael Dubeck, CEO and president of Planet Financial Group, LLC, parent company of Planet Home Lending. “This is a tangible way to extend our legacy into the future, both in the communities where we lend and nationwide. NFF is an excellent partner in that legacy.”

Our partnership with the NFF began in 2019, planting 25,000 trees, and grew to 30,000 trees in 2020. Why are we planting even more in 2021? Because we believe in passing on our success. What’s good for the planet, is good for its people, and is good for our collective future.

Our commitment to social responsibility extends beyond our NFF partnership. We’re reducing paper waste through a digital mortgage initiative, which lets people apply via our digital mortgage assistant, receive disclosures electronically and where permitted by law, close via a remote notary. That will save reams of forms and paperwork that would otherwise have required shredding and fossil fuel transportation to landfills. We also support The Farmlink Project, a charitable grassroots movement working to move surplus crops from farms to food banks to address food insecurity and prevent food waste, thereby reducing carbon emissions.
