There are many ways to support our mission to restore and enhance National Forests and Grasslands. Review the options below to see how you can make an impact on the health, resiliency, and accessibility of these important public lands.
The National Forest Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax deductible. Our federal tax ID is 52-1786332.
We need you to rebuild and secure the future of National Forests. PLANT TREES NOW.
Wildfires, insects, and disease have public lands in urgent need of reforestation -- and every dollar you donate makes an immediate and tangible impact that supports forest recovery and restores native ecosystems.
Planting trees in honor or memory is a great way to support National Forests and Grasslands while remembering or honoring a loved one or recognizing a special occasion. This sustainable gift option is available to you year-round, to help celebrate birthdays, graduations, holidays, to remember a loved one, or show someone you care.
As a corporate partner, there are many benefits to working with the National Forest Foundation. Your support reaps tangible conservation results for our nation’s forests, watersheds, wildlife, and recreation resources.
A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a convenient way to simplify your charitable giving. This popular giving vehicle generally provides a tax deduction upon the creation of the fund. You can then recommend charitable gifts from the fund to the National Forest Foundation.
Additionally, you can name a beneficiary of your donor-advised fund after your lifetime. You can designate the National Forest Foundation as a recipient of a portion of the remaining account value or the full balance.
If you are 70½ or older, you can make a direct transfer from your IRA to the National Forest Foundation without paying federal income taxes on the amount. Thus, your gift can fulfill a minimum distribution requirement while also providing a significant tax benefit. You can also designate the National Forest Foundation as a beneficiary of your IRA. We encourage you to consult with your financial advisor about this gift option.
Donating appreciated stock is one of the easiest ways to maximize your donation to the National Forest Foundation. By transferring stock to the NFF directly, you can avoid capital gains taxes, which means the value of your direct stock gift would be higher than if you sold the stock and then made a cash donation. You are still eligible to deduct the full fair-market value of the asset you donated from your income taxes, up to the overall amount allowed by the IRS.
By including the National Forest Foundation in your estate plan, you can play an integral role in securing a sustainable future for National Forests and Grasslands. Your planned gift, through your will or charitable trust, will create a legacy of conservation and environmental stewardship. Your lawyer or financial advisor can assist you in making informed decisions that benefit your estate and the causes you wish to support.
We welcome the opportunity to discuss your goals and provide additional information about your planned giving options. Please contact Chief Conservation Officer Marcus Selig at [email protected] or 720.437.0290.
